Songfacts®:

  • Khalid chronicles a young girl who is struggling to make her way through life during this acoustic guitar jam.

    Saturday nights, light gray Silverado
You drive it 'cause you have to
Stay up working late at a job you hate
Fix your makeup in a dirty bathroom

After talking about her absent parents not caring in the first verse, Khalid sings in the second about the girl having to take on an unwanted job as an escort or stripper to make ends meet.

And all the things that I know
    That your parents don't
They don't care like I do
    Nowhere like I do

In the chorus Khalid tells the girl that he understands and loves her and wants to help pull her out of the wreckage.
  • Country star Kane Brown joins Khalid on a remix of "Saturday Night." The new version stays true to the original, with similar vocals in the first half of the song from the R&B star, but a new second verse courtesy of the Nashville artist. The two artists then harmonize and trade lines throughout the rest of the track.
