Songfacts®:

  • "We The People" finds Republican firebrand Kid Rock calling for folks to unite and fight for the right to be free in the light of COVID-19 restrictions. He released the song on January 25, 2022, along with two other singles: "Rockin'" and "The Last Dance."
  • During his profanity-laced single, Rock slams:

America's leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, by condemning his recommendations on mask-wearing.

President Joe Biden over vaccine mandates, lockdown rules and economic policies.

CNN, TMZ, Twitter and Facebook for embracing President Biden's COVID-19 restrictions.

Rock then calls for politically polarized Americans to come together, exclaiming:

But we gotta keep fighting for the right to be free
And every human being doesn't have to agree
We all bleed red, brother, listen to me
It's time for love and unity
  • Kid Rock described "We The People" in a Facebook video as a "hard rock-rap tune." He added it's about "all the craziness going on in our world in the last few years and the politics and the polarization and social justice. You know, constantly for just being a Trump fan attacked in the media day in day out."
  • The chorus' repeated chant of "We the people, ooh, let's go Brandon" is a conservative meme that blew up in the fall of 2021. It comes from an NBC interview with NASCAR racer Brandon Brown when the reporter, Kelli Stavast, misheard the crowd's chant of "F--k Joe Biden" as "Let's go, Brandon." Republican supporters adopted it as a euphemism that expresses their disgust with Biden. The track concludes with a sample of a crowd chanting, "Let's go, Brandon."
  • In the wake of the "Let's go Brandon" slogan blowing up, various conservative artists released anti-Biden songs titled after the meme. Two of them, by Loza Alexander and Bryson Gray, both reached the Hot 100's Top 40 in the fall of 2021.

  • Bob from UsaYeah lets unite the people by telling half the country who voted for Biden to F-off. Great strategy, lol.
  • Elizabeth Jane Huff from IndianaThe greatest song I've heard in a long time. I totally agree with the lyrics. We need to get it together people. United we stand divided we fall.
