Songfacts®:

  • Actor-turned-singer Kiefer Sutherland says this track from his debut album is about a highly publicized failed romance from his youth. He tells Rolling Stone: "There's a moment in everyone's life when they go from a girl to a woman or a boy to a man, and that transition, at least from my experience, is illustrated through heartbreak."

He doesn't name the girl, but Sutherland did have a high-profile engagement to Julia Roberts after the pair met on the set of Flatliners in 1990.
