  • In his pull-no-punches and quite explicit biography The Beast, Killers lead singer Paul Di'Anno said this song "was inspired by that whole episode." The whole episode in question does not make pleasant reading but it led to him serving hard time in the LA County Jail for - among other things - abusing his American girlfriend. After his release, they met up and had a lengthy heart to heart laying together on the sofa, "nothing sexual, just side by side."

    Things might have progressed but at that precise moment, Los Angeles was hit by a massive earthquake and "our apartment felt as though it was going to collapse like a house of cards at any minute, and the moment was lost forever. We scrambled to safety, and that was the end of our relationship."

    Di'Anno interpreted this as a message from the Almighty, and caught the next available flight back to England.

    "A Song For You" is not to be confused with the Leon Russell song of the same name. >>>
