In our 2015 interview with Killing Joke frontman Jaz Coleman, he talked about his concept of an "autonomous zone." "It can be anything," he said. "It can be a debate, it can be a concert, it can be some DJs, it can be a speaker. But an autonomous zone is a place for free speech."
Killing Joke takes an unorthodox view of the concert experience, seeing it as a communal effort between both band and audience. They gig sparingly and see their shows as elaborate parties, paying no heed to the promotional aspects that surround the event. This song represents their view of these concerts: a gathering where they can do whatever they want.
