Songfacts®:

  • This song was originally released as Krule's debut single on House Anxiety records in April 2010, when the singer was called Zoo Kid. It was recorded and mixed in his bedroom with his friends Francis North and Thelonious McCab. The tune was later included on King Krule's 2013 debut album, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon.
  • The song takes its title from a 1982 pencil-on-paper piece by Jean Michel Basquiat. The late New York neo-expressionist artist is repeatedly referenced by American rappers. Jay-Z, for instance, is a devotee of Basquiat and has name-checked him in his rhymes on several occasions.
