  • "Nowhere To Run" is a protest song against how internet culture and the fear-based news cycles are tearing folks apart. Drummer Caleb Followill told The Independent that politics is pulling a lot of people apart in the States.

"We live in a time when there's not 10 sides, there's two sides in this country," he said. "And I've always been someone who thinks, how can you let politics or religion tear your family apart? How can you put so much faith in a politician that you're gonna turn your back on your brother? You need each other."
  • "Nowhere to Run" is the third track on Kings of Leon's ninth album, Can We Please Have Fun. The band chose the album title because it's open-ended, like a big musical shrug.

"It can be a statement or a question but we're going to make this record and can we please enjoy this process," frontman Caleb Folowill told UK newspaper The Sun. "This is a great opportunity for us to show the world who we are as people and how much this actually means to us."
  • Kings Of Leon recorded Can We Please Have Fun at the Dark Horse Recording studios in Franklin, Tennessee, a short drive from each of their homes. They produced it with new collaborator Kid Harpoon, known for his work with Harry Styles and Florence + The Machine.

The band's manager also manages Harry Styles; he knew Kid Harpoon and suggested they try some songs out with him. They met with him in January 2023 and then the album Harry's House cleaned up at the Grammys the following month.

"Working with him, we were always moving forward," said bassist Jared Followill to The Sun. "Kid would not let us get stagnant on stuff. It was like running across a tightrope. You never stopped and it was exciting."
