  • King's X drummer Jerry Gaskill had a heart attack in 2012, then another in 2014. In this song, he reflects on his long recovery. Said Gaskill: "I was thinking of when I was kind of dead and had to recover. I didn't think I was ever going to play again, but a friend said, 'You are going to play. You will get out there'. It came from those conversations."
  • Gaskill and his King's X bandmates Dug Pinnick and Ty Tabor are very close, having played together since the '80s. Gaskill's health scare was tough on them too. Pinnick says he was in tears when he heard the first lines in the song:

Like my brother told me yesterday
Stop all this nonsense get out there and play
Well I was thinking maybe fade away
But now I'm here to stay
  • Dug Pinnick did the orchestration. "When I heard the song, I just thought, 'Violins. Cellos. We've got to build this song into a beautiful pop song that can be played on the radio. Top 40 or something," he told Songfacts. "It's one of my favorite songs because of the orchestration. I never got a chance to do orchestration on a King's X record, and I got to come up with all those parts. I think we all got to do things on this record that we normally don't do. It was a lot of fun because of that."
