Songfacts®:

  • This was part of the first five-song demo Kiss recorded at Electric Lady Studio (founded by Jimi Hendrix), with Eddie Kramer producing. Their guitarist Paul Stanley said of the song: "I wrote 'Firehouse' when I was in high school. At that point, I had been writing songs for about five years. Back then I couldn't afford to buy old British albums and I was really into that kind of music. There was a band called The Move who had a song called 'Fire Brigade.' So I stole it and rewrote it." >>>

  • Randy from Colerain Twp., Oh In the early years, Paul Stanley would wear an actual firefighters' helmet during this song. The helmet was originally red, but he began wearing a white one around the time 'Dynasty' was released.
  • Cam from Cambridge, CanadaIn the early years this was their most appropiate song KISS had. They played almost every time they were on t.v. For example the Mike Douglas show, they played this song, for ABC's In Concert they started off with this song
  • Haggai from Hobart, Australiathe bassline in the chorus sounds like an elephant plodding along behind the circus. that's my interpretation anyway.
  • Dan from Lee, NhSomeone said that Kiss was inspired to write this because of Led Zeppelin's Misty Mountain Hop.
  • Jimbo from Corpus Christi, TxThis is the song Gene spits his fireball for the live shows.
