Songfacts®:

  • One of the first songs KoRn ever made, this was originally a track on a demo tape from around 1993-94 before KoRn released their first album. Head, who is one of KoRn's guitarists, sang lead on the original.
  • The chorus melody was used to make the song "Need To," which KoRn released on their self-titled album. This caused some fans to bash "Alive" for being a rehash, while it was really the other way around.
  • The Take a Look in the Mirror album saw KoRn going back to the style of their earlier CD's. This song was used as a basis for the album. >>>

  • Luna Loud from Royal Woods, MichiganIt's more like the chorus riff/drumbeat that were used in "Need To" rather than the melody (usually used to refer to the vocal melody). The vocal melody to "Need To" is similar, but not quite the same.
  • Zero from Nowhere, NjNo, Nathan, pretty sure it's Jon saying/growling "Alive", and I think Head does the background vocals during the chorus.
  • Nathan Ritz from Marengo , InJoey, its not just a weird noise, hes saying alive, and no its the lead guitarist
  • Joey from Cincinnati, Ohis it Jon that is making that weird noise before the chorus in this song??
  • Billy Ross from Hagerstown, MdI love the slap bass intro in this song
  • Kassandra from Long Island A.k.a Wrong Island, Nyi love this song... but i love every korn song ive been a korn fan since i was like 5 (im a korn kid lol) lol ive been a fan for 10 years oh and kurt.... i think you might be right
  • Jimmy from Modesto, CaReally good song by one of my favorite band, Korn.
  • Kurt from Unity, MeNot certain on this but i think that Jon is suggesting that he survived his troubled childhood and, even though hes traumatized he will live.
