Songfacts®:

  • This song was penned by Train's Pat Monahan and songwriter/producer Toby Gad (Beyoncé's "If I Were A Boy," Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry").
  • This tune, which finds a couple facing difficulties in their relationship was a grower for Allen, who initially struggled with the idea of recording other people's material. He told MTV News, "I thought it was really good, [but] for me, it was just stubbornness and wanting to write everything." He added that removing the "jaunty piano" featured on the demo he first heard helped him appreciate the song more.
  • An updated version of this song including a feature from Pat Monahan, was released as the second single from Kris Allen.
