Songfacts®:

  • Born in Guangzhou, China, Kris Wu was chosen as a member of EXO in 2012. The boy band became one of the most popular K-pop groups in South Korea and their studio album XOXO was the first long player by a Korea-based artist in 12 years to sell over one million copies.

In 2014 Wu embarked on a solo career and over the following few years, he gained an international following with a series of viral hits that he co-wrote and co-produced.

In October 2017, Wu released a single titled "Deserve," featuring US rapper Travis Scott, which debuted at #1 on the US iTunes chart. Wu was the first Chinese artist to achieve the feat.

Wu signed an exclusive international recording agreement in spring 2018 with Universal Music Group (UMG). "Like That" was his first release following the new contract.
  • Co-written by Wu, "Like That" was produced by Atlanta-based producer/writer FKi 1st (Post Malone's "White Iverson," and 2 Chainz "Watch Out.") According to Wu, the lyrics describe "seeing a beautiful girl across the room and taking a chance on what could happen next."
  • When the song debuted at #73 on the Billboard Hot 100, it marked the highest ever chart position from a Chinese artist.
  • The song's music video features British/New Zealand supermodel Stella Maxwell, who is known for being a Victoria's Secret Angel and the face of Max Factor. Prior to appearing in the clip, her biggest music connection was being namechecked by G-Eazy in his 2015 single "Me, Myself & I."

I just need space to do me get a world that they're tryna see
A Stella Maxwell right beside of me
    A Ferrari I'm buyin' three
