Songfacts®:

  • This understated ballad from Kristin Chenoweth's fourth album, Lessons Learned, is quite a departure for the big-voiced Broadway star. She explained to Billboard magazine the song's meaning. (It's), "Simply about a relationship between father and daughter. Anybody that is a dad or a daughter knows how special that relationship can be. I have a great relationship with my dad. That one speaks to me on a big time personal level."
  • The song was written by Jodi Marr, whose other credits include songs by Paloma Faith "New York" and Mika "Rain."
  • Chenoweth told The Boot that her dad has been a great example of "what a father is and what a husband should be." She added that though Jodi Marr didn't write this song for her, "it feels like it was. If I could have written a song about my father, it would be this song."
