  • Oklahoma native Kristin Chenoweth has clocked up numerous credits both in the theater and on the small screen. She is best known on Broadway for her performance as Sally Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, for which she won the 1999 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also originated the role of Glinda in Wicked. Her television roles include playing Annabeth Schott in The West Wing and alcoholic singer April Rhodes in Glee. This is the first single from her fourth album, Lessons Learned, which was released on September 13, 2011. It was recorded in Nashville with producer Bob Ezrin (Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd) and was the singer's first Country Pop record. She said, "This album is more along the lines of what I grew up singing, like the music I sang in church in Oklahoma. When I was hired at nineteen to sing at Opryland in Nashville, that's what I wanted to do. I never anticipated my career going in all these great directions — which I'm grateful for! I'm finally getting to do what I want."
  • The song was one of five tracks written by Diane Warren for Lessons Learned. Chenoweth told The Boot that the song speaks about "a girl... a woman, let me re-phrase that, ME, who wants to find somebody that they can bitch about and still live without," adding, "I don't know a woman who can't relate to that."
  • Chenoweth commented to The Boot that that it's funny that she can have a song on her album called "Prayer of St. Francis" and also "Bitch About." She added that, at first, she had some doubts about including the song on the album because of its title.
