Harry Is Our Man - Redknapp For England!

Album: not released on an album (2012)

Songfacts®:

  • This is another X Certificate song - do these guys ever produce any other kind? This might be called a tribute song but it takes a certain knowledge of the misnamed beautiful game from an English perspective to understand it. Harry Rednapp was a football player, born and bred in the East End of London. After his playing career he went into management where he made his name, working with several leading teams including West Ham and Bournemouth, both of which he had played for.

Rednapp was widely believed to be the best man to manage the England team, especially after their dismal performance in the World Cup, but the Football Association appointed Roy Hodgson instead. Rednapp had problems away from the field too, standing trial at Southwark Crown Court for tax offences. He was acquitted on January 23, 2012, which gives this ditty a timeline. >>>
