Songfacts®:

  • LadBaby is Mark Hoyle, a Nottingham-born father of two children who in 2016 launched his YouTube channel documenting his "lad to dad" parenthood journey. Hoyle became a social media hit, with his videos reaching up to 70 million views worldwide. In 2018 the YouTube sensation was crowned Celebrity Dad of the Year, beating the likes of Prince William.
  • This song is LadBaby's own version of Starship's 1985 hit "We Built This City" with the lyrics changed to pay tribute to sausage rolls rather than rock and roll. The parody was released on December 14, 2018, with proceeds from the single going to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.
  • Ladbaby's wife, Roxanne, features on the song. She has built up a sizable following as a result of her own page, LadBaby Mum.
  • "We Built This City" shifted 75,000 combined sales in its debut week to take the top spot on the UK singles chart. It was the first novelty song to be the UK's Christmas #1 since Bob The Builder's "Can We Fix It?" in 2000.
