Songfacts®:

  • The title track of Lady A's sixth studio album, Hillary Scott told Billboard magazine they chose to name the disc after this song as, "the track itself has this pushing, driving spirit about it that sums up our attitude right now." She added: "We are pushing ourselves as a band and as songwriters…taking ourselves out of our comfort zone and not taking ourselves too seriously. There's an urgency and an energy to it that we've never released before."
  • Though the song's lyrics technically refer to a heartsick man who's flying back home on a 747 to see his wife, they also double as a metaphor for the group itself. Charles Kelley explained that after a series of chart-topping records, Lady Antebellum is ready to pull up the wheels and climb even higher. "747 is a snapshot of where we are as a band," he said . "It's us wanting to solidify our place - to stay at the top of our game, for lack of a better way of saying it."

"You know, when you start playing these arenas and these amphitheaters, and the fans are gravitating toward this music, it's a drug," Kelley added. "You want it. You want to stay there. As a band, we're ready."

  • Bethany Ellis from Blacksburg VaThe song is such a bop because it’s more Dan and Shay
  • Nelly.samantha from 9385 Oak Hollow DrThe smile that has been soaked in tears is the most brilliant, and the soul that comes out of the confusion is the most sober.
