Songfacts®:

  • This Joanne deluxe edition bonus track pays homage to Haus of Gaga managing director Sonja Dunham, who was revealed in 2015 to be suffering from cancer. Lady Gaga told BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw:

"One of my friends has stage four breast cancer and there is a song which touches on that relationship on the album but its also quite a fun song. All the different things going on in my life bring me back to the people I love and that can heal you at any moment."
  • The song pays homage to Gaga's longtime friendship with Sonja Dunham

    I was 23. She was 35
I was spiralin' out and she was so alive
    A Texas girl real strong
    Taught me this drunk song
So when I start to ball
She says, 'let your teardrops fall'

Gaga recalls here how she first met this "Texas girl real strong" in her pre-fame days, when they poured their hearts out over Pinot Grigio wine.
  • Gaga wrote this with Nashville songwriter Hillary Lindsey ("Jesus, Take The Wheel," "Girl Crush"). It was produced by Mark Ronson and BloodPop. Lindsey also supplies additional vocals to the tune.
  • The song features guitar by Dirty Pretty Things founding member Anthony Rossomando, who previously worked with Mark Ronson on the producer's 2010 single "Somebody to Love."
  • Gaga explained the track's meaning to Radio.com: "The song is about womanhood and sticking together and encouraging one another and teaching each other that it's ok to cry together and need one another, and that we can't do it alone."
