  • The song title is an acronym for "Girl Under You." Gaga revealed to Stylist that she wrote this tune as a "new-age feminist" and explained that the track deals with embracing the female image.

"Any kind of feminist has valid views for herself about what it means to be a feminist, but, as a new-age feminist, I would say I quite like the transference of strength I feel by submitting to a man – being under him," she said. "I actually wrote a song about it on my album, it's called 'GUY' and it stands for 'Go Under You.' So wearing make-up, smelling delicious and having suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs is something I find strengthening because I know that when I pick the right guy, I can let him have it."
  • The song's music video was filmed at Hearst Castle, the former home of William Randolph Hearst located near San Simeon, California. Clocking in at 11 minutes, 46 seconds -it exceeds Gaga's nine-and-a-half minute clip for "Telephone." Andy Cohen and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars make cameos in the hedonistic visual, whilst Gaga herself is listed as the director. "You have to [crack the whip] to keep the pace going," she told MTV News. "We had our work cut out for us with this video. It was a very big production. We shot for six days."
  • "G.U.Y." is part of Gaga's 2013 album ARTPOP, which she calls her "EDM opus." It was her first album that wasn't well received, which led her to do some soul searching. She decided that instead of trying to please everyone looking for more pop hits, she would do jazz duets with Tony Bennett instead. She eventually returned (quite successfully) to pop music, but with a new understanding and with more control.

  • Stempenos from HilltopAll the people living generic automated existences (ie shopping rent algorithms) just look dumb as s--t walking up that hill in the video. I see architecture of nuclear fusion, musk, and gaga when she talks about venus. Its necessary to be little dick chenney in todays college debt/ negative interest/ beta testing workforce bot factoring your skin and graphics, but i prefer being gaga. In the middle would be jock scratcher at best. Facial recognition and beta factoring negative interest spam = coroners office aka coronavirus. Game over sell out cockroaches.
