Songfacts®:

  • Lady Gaga penned this song specifically for the Lisa Goes Gaga episode of The Simpsons, which premiered on May 20, 2012. The show features Lady Gaga passing through Springfield by train while on her way to a concert. She stops by and tries to boost the spirits of Lisa, who has become a social outcast. Gaga's cartoon character echoes her in many ways, including the wearing of 18 different outfits in the show. "It was such an incredible script," said the singer of the experience. "It's so funny. Sometimes it was very endearing. Other times they were making fun of me and everybody else. It's sort of what I do as a performer."
  • The 90-second song finds Gaga joking about her special relationship with her dedicated fanbase, whom she nicknames 'Little Monsters.' She references various Simpsons characters including Disco Stu ("Oh, my monsters, so beautiful. Disco Stu-tiful"), Professor Frink and Grandpa Simpson.
