  • This song touches on the frustration Lady Sovereign felt working in the record label machine. About.com asked Lady Sovereign where the line "It's OK for me to feel this way" came from. She replied: "Frustration. Last time around, when I was signed to Def Jam, I just felt like I wasn't really in control of myself. If I didn't want to do something or I felt like I needed to walk away or I got upset about something, people would not really understand why I was feeling that way and just kept pushing me more and more and more to work harder. It was like I'm falling apart here and I'm allowed to take a break if I want to, The world is not going to end if I don't do an interview or a show. With the song, I am saying that I'm allowed to get upset, I'm allowed to get angry, I'm allowed to say no. Do you know what I mean?"
  • This song samples The Cure's 1985 hit "Close To Me." Lady Sovereign's gratuitous use of the sample resulted in some complaints. This was because underground MC/soul singer Thomas Jules maintained he was intending to base a track around the same Cure song and had obtained clearance for the sample first. He protested that the idea of using "Close to Me" as a backing track was given to Lady Sovereign by her record company after executives heard Thomas Jules perform his track at a live showcase.
  • This song was co-produced by Dr Luke. Pop Justice asked Lady Sovereign if she'd been scared off working with Dr Luke as he generally works with pop artists like Paris Hilton and the Backstreet Boys. The British grime MC replied: "I didn't know until afterwards! (Guffaws) It was after the first session and someone was like, 'He's worked with Kelly Clarkson'. I was like, 'S--t!' But he's a nice dude and he does great work at the end of the day. I'd still have worked with him if I'd known, though. He's great."
