Songfacts®:

  • The closest to a traditional Country song on Mr. M, Lambchop frontman Kurt Wagner penned the tune the day after Nashville singer-songwriter Charlie Louvin died on January 26, 2011. He told UK newspaper The Sun that it was written as the result of some YouTubing he was doing looking at old clips of the Louvin Brothers. Wagner explained: "I made this connection finally about the structure of Country music of that time, where it had been a before a bit mysterious to me., when and how the changes in songs would occur. Strumming along suddenly I found it. I saw the light. Currently my take on Nashville and Country music is very positive and we all need to take a breath here and realize that, yes, good things are happening all the time in a town without pity."
