Songfacts®:

  • An ode to Lana Del Rey's new romantic partner, "Love Song" finds the singer caught up in the passion of the moment.

Now I'm here with you, and I
Would like to think that you would stick around
You know that I'd just die to make you proud
The taste, the touch, the way we love
It all comes down to make the sound of our love song

The smitten singer hopes this will prove to be a long-term relationship rather than a brief fling.
  • The song takes place in the back seat of a car following a party. The pair have lustful sex in the vehicle, which belongs to Del Rey's new lover.

The singer often references cars in her romantic tunes. Her 2017 song "White Mustang," for instance, finds Del Rey falling for a guy after seeing his sweet ride.
  • Del Rey co-wrote and co-produced "Love Song" with Bleachers lead singer Jack Antonoff. The New Jersey native has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Taylor Swift, Lorde and St. Vincent.

The pair penned the track in about half an hour. Del Rey recalled to San Diego's Alt 94.9 Radio: "It was one of those moments, you kinda like when you need a boyfriend that you're like 'oh my gosh' like there's something really good here, like we should definitely work here."
