Songfacts®:

  • If anyone ever had any doubt that English is indeed the lingua franca of the known universe, this song should dispel it. The opening line begins "Chocolate, lime juice, ice cream..."

To understand the rest requires a working knowledge of Hindi. This is another song - one of no less than fourteen - from the 1994 film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun...! As might be suspected this is a rather lighthearted number, although it is given the typical Bollywood treatment.

Running to 4 minutes 29 seconds, it is lip-syched (that's mimed to you, Britney), by lead actress Madhuri Dixit, who was born in 1967; the voice actually belongs to a lady who was born in 1929, Lata Mangeshkar, one of India's best known and most widely recorded "playback singers."
  • "Chocolate Lime Juice" was composed by Ram Laxman with lyrics by Dev Kohli and Ravender Rawal. >>
