Songfacts®:

  • Laura Doggett spent the first 16 years of her life in Salisbury, before moving with her family to Bath, where she studied music at the City of Bath College. Doggett told The Independent that this song is about Salisbury and "growing up and feeling like it was wrong to talk about things that mattered."
  • The song was used in the trailer for ITV detective series Broadchurch 2. "It was between my song and someone else's, they were deciding what would be better and luckily mine was selected," Doggett told The Bath Chronicle. "I was really removed from it, they just asked me if it was something I would like to be involved in, I said 'yes' and they just went to work, the publicists and managers."

"It's a really personal song for me and it was a really great feeling because it does lend itself to the series naturally," Doggett added. "It's about Salisbury and about small-town mentality."
  • The city of Salisbury is located in the southern England county of Wiltshire, near the edge of Salisbury Plain. Salisbury is best known for its Gothic Cathedral, which was completed in 1258. Its dial-less clock is probably the oldest existing mechanical contraption still working actively in Britain.
