  • This final part of the opening four-part suite on Once I Was an Eagle finds Marling finally leaving her lover after their tempestuous relationship. "How cruel you were to me. How cruel time can be," she croons.
  • Ruth de Turberville's cello traces the line of the song's melody. The cellist and Laura became friends at Leighton Park School, a private Quaker school in Reading, Berkshire. They have since toured together and Ruth has contributed to a number of Laura's songs. She also provided cello and backing vocals on Ellie Goulding's hit single, "Your Song."
  • The song got its first live debut on Laura Marling's North-American tour in June 2012.
