  • Back in 2006 Ne-Yo declared he was "so sick" of love songs. It seems Lauv and Troye Sivan are just as fed with them.

I'm so tired of love songs, tired of love songs
Tired of love songs, tired of love
Just wanna go home, wanna go home

The two heartbroken singers are fed up with watching others being all loved-up while their song plays. Now they have broken up with their lovers, the pair want to dip out of the festivities and have their own pity-party back home.
  • Sivan namechecks two songs during his verse: Lorde's "Buzzcut Season" and Coldplay's "Hurts Like Heaven."

"I love being a stan," Sivan tweeted. "Real life songs that have real life emotions and memories stuck to them."
  • Lauv and Sivan first decided to get together to write after playing a show together. Their first effort was not very good; Lauv told Billboard it was unlikely to ever "see the light of day."

Lauv then played Troye a short chorus he has been toying with, which the Aussie singer loved. They immediately started writing the verses and pre-chorus tapping into their experiences. "We were sitting in my backyard kinda just talking about that process of when you miss somebody and everything reminds you of them," Lauv recalled. "You kind of on purpose listen to all the songs that you guys used to listen to together, or songs that you were listening to when you guys broke up."

The pair decided to scrap the bridge they had written. They then recruited producer Max Martin sidekick Ozgo, who'd worked with Sivan on his Bloom album, to help piece everything together.
