Songfacts®:

  • "Hummingbird" is the first single from the German producer LCAW (Leon Weber). It features Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who sings about a love that was so strong it still sets her heart aflutter just thinking about it. When this happens, it sounds like a hummingbird.
  • Ellis-Bextor told the British newspaper Metro: "It's about a lost love, someone you had a dalliance with and now it's just a memory. It's dancey but melancholy; it's nice working with someone who is very talented and who comes at things from a different angle – he's a classical musician who has gone into dance music."
  • LCAW posted on Soundcloud: "'Hummingbird' is a very personal track with a more downbeat vibe, I think this is one of the main reasons Sophie instantly felt connected to it. Her voice has such a unique character and she added a whole other dimension to what I had made before we met. We had the recording session in a small studio in Notting Hill which hosted writing sessions for the likes of Adele, James Blunt and Lana Del Rey and it felt like there was a very special atmosphere."
