Songfacts®:

  • Michele co-wrote this song with the Australian singer-songwriter Sia, who has also co-penned hits for David Guetta ("Titanium"), Flo Rida ("Wild Ones") and Rihanna ("Diamonds").
  • The song features intensely personal lyrics about Michele's relationship with her late boyfriend, Cory Monteith, who died in July 2013 at the age of 31 from a drugs and alcohol overdose. The singer explained that it was the pair's favorite song, and "it's about committing yourself to someone for life."
  • Michele told Elle magazine that it was a late decision to include the track on Louder. "The album was done, and the label said, 'Do you want to add anything?' I was like, 'I might regret it if I don't'," she recalled "It makes me so happy, this song. It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think of him, I play this."
  • Michele explained the song's meaning to E! News: "It''s really about making that commitment in a relationship," she said, "about at the beginning being scared to take the leap, but when once you take it, committing yourself to another person and saying, you know, this is it, for life."
