  • The Christian rapper was born Lecrae Devaughn Moore in Houston, Texas.
  • He says delivering the gospel message is like being a mailman. In a Songfacts interview, he explained the importance of the analogy:

"It really keeps you sober. It keeps a humble perspective on the message you bring and the affect of the message. Because people's lives really are transformed. You go out here and you do music, and you talk to people, and literally there's a transformation in their lives. Like, they're not the same anymore. And a lot of times they want to accredit that to you and give you the credit. But really I'm just a conduit. I'm the mailman."
  • His album Rehab was partly inspired by his own battle with alcohol and substance abuse and how his faith helped him overcome his issues. He explained: "At the end of the day rehabilitation means that something is broken, and it's supposed to look like this, but it's broken. I think that's what God wants to do with us as individuals. We're broken, we're fractured, we're messed up, and need rehabilitation."
  • As a teen, he was nearly arrested for drug possession until the police officer spotted the bible he kept in his car for good luck. "I told him I know I need to live it," Moore recalled to CNN. The officer let him go on the promise that he would do just that.
  • He became the first hip hop artist to win a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album after his sixth album, Gravity, was given the honor in 2013.
  • His Anomaly album, which was released on September 9, 2014, topped the Billboard 200 and Gospel Albums charts in the same week. Lecrae was the first ever artist to simultaneously reach #1 on both tallies.

  • Katie from Republic Mo I think that Lecrea is the best next to NF if they did a song together they would take the title of the best rapper pair ever
Lecrae's song with Tori Kelly "I'll Find You" had me in almost tears.
