Songfacts®:

  • This is the first single by the American singer Lenny Kravitz, from his ninth studio album, titled Black and White America. He was working on an LP called "Negrophilia" when a documentary about negative responses to Barack Obama's presidency inspired a different, politically conscious release.
  • The single was used in a NBA promotion with Turner Broadcasting. Kravitz, who lives in Miami and is a Heat fan, told Billboard magazine: "I wasn't thinking about any sort of affiliation or anything, but they heard the song and said, 'This is perfect for our season and we'd like to use it.' I'm always careful with those kinds of things, but when I got the footage back it was so dynamic and it worked really well with the music."
  • This was featured in the 2011 action movie Abduction, starring Taylor Lautner.
  • In case you haven't figured it out, this energetic soul rocker is about sex.
  • In the music video, Kravitz and his band perform the tune for a group of curious onlookers who converge on the other side of a chain-link fence.
