Songfacts®:

  • Songs have often been written or more often parodied to advertise food and other products: "The Hippopotamus" and "Food, Glorious Food" to name but two; this one was written by Levi Roots to promote his family recipé sauce.
Although a time serving musician who had performed with James Brown, among others, Roots rose to fame only in February 2007 when he appeared on a TV program that had little or nothing to do with music. Dragon's Den originated in Japan; its purpose is to give budding entrepreneurs a sales pitch to promote their business ideas, inventions and innovations to venture capitalists – the Dragons.
  • Originally, Roots sold his Reggae Reggae sauce at the Notting Hill Carnival, which although world famous is only a two day event; within a month of his TV appearance he was selling it nationwide. Later, he produced two similar sauces, and published a cook book.

He came up with the title because it's so nice he named it twice; its purpose is to put some music in the food. The video for the song doubles as an advertisement for the sauce, and was directed by Karen Palmer on Jet Star Phonographics. >>
