Songfacts®:

  • Produced and written by Lianne La Havas with English born-Nashville based white soul singer Jamie Lidell, this tune finds the songstress recounting the journey that she's been on since she was a child. She explained to Q magazine: "It was written after I went to Jamaica with my mum and it got me thinking about growing up in London and having a Jamaican mum and a Greek dad."

"I wanted to tell a story about that so my mum and dad could hear it and know how much it means to me that they are my parents," La Havas continued. "I spent a lot of time away from my family during the last album and I finally had the time to get into the swing of being around them again."
  • Lianne La Havas used the lyric "ancient stone" in this song to represent Greece and her Greek father, who was a stone mason.
