Songfacts®:

  • Lil Baby and DaBaby both achieved commercial breakthroughs in the late 2010s, so it made sense for the two baby-monikered Southern lyricists to connect on wax with a cut titled after their names. We wonder if they considered recruiting Bhad Bhabie to create the ultimate "baby" trio.
  • The song was recorded for Quality Control: Control the Streets, Vol. 2, the sequel to 2018's Quality Control compilation mixtape. Both artists rap braggadocios rhymes about their fame, jewelry and relationships with women.
  • The track marks the third collaboration between the two "babies," following Lil Baby's appearance on the remix of DaBaby's "Today" in October 2018 and their guest verses on Jamz's aptly titled "Baby Shower" in May 2019.
  • The song was produced by Atlanta beatmaker Wheezy. He previously supplied the instrumentation for Lil Baby's collaboration with Drake "Yes Indeed."
  • Fred again, Skrillex and Four Tet sampled Lil Baby's vocals on the chorus for their 2023 dance track "Baby Again..."
