Songfacts®:

  • Gazzy Garcia is a South Florida rapper who performs under the name of Lil Pump. This track is his first Hot 100 hit.
  • Lil Pump collaborates frequently with fellow Floridian rapper SmokePurpp and the pair perform often together as Gucci Gang. The majority of this song centers around the words "Gucci Gang" being repeated like a mantra. (Pump says "Gucci Gang" a total of 53 times.) The rest of his flow is standard braggadocio rhymes about women, drugs and luxury items.
  • The track is produced by Big Head & Gnealz, who supply Pump with his signature distorted production. Bighead recalled to Genius:

"The craziest thing about 'Gucci Gang' is I made it at Record Plant. The same studio back in the '70s where my dad was trying to audition for a band. He stole the singer of that band's wife and now she's my step-mom."
  • At just two minutes and four seconds, this was the shortest song to hit the Top 10 of the Hot 100 since Dickie Goodman's "Mr. Jaws" peaked at #4 in 1975. Goodman's novelty number was only one second shorter than Pump's.
  • The song's music video was shot at Blessed Sacrament School on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
  • This song has plenty of detractors, but also a high-profile supporter in Dave Grohl, who likens it to the unorthodox punk rock of his generation (like The Germs). And like most of those songs, it's about two-minutes long.
