Songfacts®:

  • This seductive bluesy number finds Wayne declaring his wealth and swag. Tha Carter IV was released on August 29, 2011, ten months after the rapper's release from Rikers prison where he'd served eight months on weapons possession charges. According to Young Money President Mack Maine, Weezy conceptualized Tha Carter IV in three stages: pre-prison, in-prison and post-prison. "He did the 'Blunt Blowin' joint as soon as he got out. He actually wrote that one while he was in Rikers," Maine told MTV News.
  • Although the track wasn't released as a single it reached at #33 on Billboard Hot 100 chart the week after the release of Tha Carter IV.
