Songfacts®:

  • This collaboration between Linkin Park and American club DJ Steve Aoki is a new track that was recorded for the band's online action-strategy game, LP Recharge. The single was launched via Facebook and the official LP Recharge website on September 12, 201, as well as a stream on demand via Xbox Music. "I think this song and release show where we're at right now," said singer Mike Shinoda. "Making the song with Steve, premiering it through the Recharge Facebook game, and debuting it via Microsoft's Xbox Music, I think it's all indicative of our band's commitment to experimentation and pushing boundaries."

LP Recharge features characters and missions designed by the band whilst Shinoda put his art school degree to work, contributing design work.
  • The song was debuted in August 2013 by Linkin Park at the Summer Sonic Festival in Tokyo. Shinoda called in to KROQ's The Kevin & Bean show a month later to discuss the track. "The coolest part about the song is it was really organic in how it came together," Shinoda explained. "Steve (Aoki) and I first talked on Twitter, and then we were emailing, and then we started throwing music back and forth. It eventually resulted in the song being finished."
  • The song also appears on Linkin Park's second remix album of recordings Recharged. "Anybody who bought Living Things on our website directly from us at LinkinPark.com, they got a remix a month for like six months, which is really pretty cool. But in order to get those remixes [to send out] for the six months, we got tons and tons of remixes," Shinoda explained to Kevin and Bean. "We ended up with a bunch of different [remixes] that people have still not heard, and we're actually going to be putting them together on a remix album, Recharged.
  • Recharged includes a remix of this song by legendary producer Rick Rubin. "Rick doesn't usually make a track, he produces stuff for other people, so this is a really special thing. I'm really excited about it," said Shinoda.
