Light The Fire

Album: single release only (2018)

Songfacts®:

  • Lisa Heller, 21 when this song was released, first got national attention when her song "Hope" garnered over a million views on YouTube in 2016. Her songs deal with finding confidence and finding positive ways to manage anxiety and doubt. "Light The Fire" is part of the #icanhelp campaign, established to "educate and empower students to use social media positively."
  • If we light the fire, build our own heat
Will brothers and sisters come march the streets?
Strike one match - that's all we need
To light the fire, build our own heat

Heller told Songfacts: "The chorus of this song was inspired by the pain occurring in the world. I wanted people to have a positive outlook and hopefully join forces to peacefully stand up for what they believe in. When I say 'strike one match,' I am referring to the fact that it starts with the individual to make an impact. Then it will grow into a fire as more people join the cause. I am suggesting that it only takes one to create change, but we can grow it into something bigger.

This ties in with #icanhelp as this social cause is about creating socially safe environments online, as well as digital leaders. It is as though they applied the concept of 'light the fire' to the digital world, and I am honored to be a part of such an amazing organization."
