    Lorde debuted the song during her Coachella 2017 set on April 16, 2017. On stage at Coachella, Lorde said it is about that time in an evening when "maybe the drugs are just kicking in."
  • Lorde told The SpinOff regarding the lyrical content: "Sometimes it is just about having your arms around your friend's shoulders and being drunk and being into the same song."
  • Lorde performed this at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards... without singing it. After putting a cassette in a boombox, she proceeded to dance for the duration of the song.
  • Lorde recruited SZA, Khalid and Post Malone for the song's remix. The three guests all deliver verses about love interests while Lorde's lyrics are unchanged.
