• This song was the surprise winner of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi is a Finnish monster rock band, and their entry attracted controversy and was regarded as something of a joke. Finland had never won Eurovision since its inception in 1956, and because of the country's appalling record it was decided that it had nothing to lose. But Lordi had the last laugh, and romped home with a record 292 points.
• Although Lordi were referred to by the British media as a heavy metal band, this song is not heavy metal but melodic rock, and didn't seem out of place at the contest. The song was edited down slightly for the show; the full version runs to something over 4 minutes, a shade on the long side for Eurovision entries. >>

• Traditionally, the winner of the previous year's contest would open the following year's show, and Lordi did not disappoint when opening the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. A video was made for the event, showing various images of monstrous figures, including one that appears to transform into a dog running across huge snowy plains. The band is also seen performing against huge backdrops of jets of fire, before segueing into the live performance in the arena in the final pre-chorus.
