Songfacts®:

  • In March 2016, Stephen Barker Liles and his duo partner Eric Gunderson signed with Curb Records after releasing their Whiskey on My Breath project independently. This is their first single on their new label, which was released to country radio on October 10, 2016.
  • The song takes its name from the children's board game, but its lyrical content is not so child-friendly. "It's about, like, an adult Candyland inside your room... you know what I'm saying?" Barker Liles said in a video promoting the single, adding an exaggerated wink to get the message across.
  • The song was inspired by a lighthearted conversation that Barker Liles had with his wife before a writing session. "[My wife] was like, 'You should write about candy.' I was like, 'Alright.' She just said it randomly to be funny, but it ended up being the title," Barker Liles recalled.
