Songfacts®:

  • In this soaring track, LP (Laura Pergolizzi) gets the sense that someone is looking out for her. She explained in a Songfacts interview: "I had that title, and I just knew it was going to be an uplifting song about feeling like how I was watched over by angels. I'm a very lucky person in the scheme of things. I feel like I have actual angels around me – insert 'roll your eyes' or 'big groan' - but I don't really give a f--k."
  • LP wrote this song with Kyle Schearer and Nate Campany; the trio also worked together on another track from the Churches album, "Conversation." It was produced by Mike Del Rio, who also gets a songwriting credit.
  • The music video, directed by Stephen Schofield, was inspired by the angels in the painting The Sistine Madonna by the Italian Renaissance artist Raphael. They mixed in some of the William Tell narrative as well, with an angel shooting an arrow through an apple placed on one of the other angel's heads.

"It just felt very natural and fun, and simple," LP told Songfacts. "With that song, when people ask me to explain it, I feel almost silly explaining it because it's so simple. And I think the video fits that perfectly."
