Songfacts®:

  • This is the second single from Ludacris' seventh studio album, Battle of the Sexes. The song features New York MC Nicki Minaj, who told MTV News about the collaboration. "He sent me the beat," she said. "He didn't have verses on it yet. I told him, 'You could take what I did to the next level because you're animated and crazy. People know you for that.' I kinda went animated and crazy on that. Luda is definitely one of those people - I love when people don't take themselves too seriously."
  • Originally Battle of the Sexes was tagged as a collaboration album by Ludacris and his label-mate Shawnna. However, after Shawnna left Disturbing Tha Peace, she was removed from the record. Ludacris stated that he still wanted the album to highlight different viewpoints from men and women, so he recorded tracks with a number of female artists, including this song with Nicki Minaj. He told USA Today: "Hip-hop is such a male-dominated industry. There's a female voice that's sometimes kind of missing."

Minaj added: "Guys and girls have been having this battle of the sexes from the beginning of time. So when you put that to the music, it's fun."
  • The song references tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, and the Tiger Woods scandal. Nicki Minaj refers in her verse to basketball star Lisa Leslie, and the horror movie franchises Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, and its characters Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees.
  • The music video was filmed the weekend of February 6, 2010 in Miami, Florida and was directed by TAJ Stansberry. It takes place in a dungeon during the filming of a movie, with Minaj portraying a Freddy Krueger-esque character, complete with the trademark glove made of razor blades. Eve, Trina, and Diamond, make cameos near the end of the clip.
  • Minaj is seen wearing a clip in her hair during the video. She told Paper magazine that it was a mistake she run with. She explained: "My hairdresser was curling one side and using a clip to hold my hair. I was like, 'Leave it.' They all looked at me like I was insane - but that's something I do."
