Songfacts®:

  • Ludovico Einaudi is an Italian pianist and composer. As well as releasing a number of solo albums of piano and orchestra, Einaudi has also provided music for numerous films and TV series including the movies The Intouchables and I'm Still Here, the TV miniseries Doctor Zhivago and the BBC drama Doctor Foster.
  • The Elements album takes inspiration from elements of nature, with the title track epitomizing its exploration of organic growth. Einaudi said: "I saw new frontiers - on the edge between what I knew and what I didn't know - that I had long wanted to explore: creation myths, the periodic table, Euclid's geometry, Kandinsky's writings, the matter of sound and of color, the stems of wild grass in a meadow, the shapes of the landscape."
  • Elements debuted at #12 on the UK album chart, the highest-charting modern classical LP since the Polish composer Henryk Gorecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Songs reached #6 in 1992.
