Songfacts®:

  • This piano piece by Italian classical composer Ludovico Einaudi is the title track of his 2001 album. The song title translates to "The Days" in English.
  • The song entered the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart in June 2011 after BBC Radio One DJ Greg James reminisced about using the track to unwind and to help his concentration during his own student days. He recalled: "On the 'versus' the other night with Zane Lowe, I played this track as my 'study break' record. It got an enormous reaction which led to another play the next day on my show, and then another one on Monday too."
  • The version that charted was a 2003 live rendition dating from 2003 as the original studio piece wasn't actually available on iTunes in the UK at the time.
  • The song soundtracked a commercial for the Indian telecom service provider Airtel, which launched its 3G services in the sub-continent in the November of 2010.
  • In 2014 classical crossover artist Katherine Jenkins recorded a vocal interpretation titled "Dreaming of the Days" for her Home Sweet Home album. She told Billboard magazine: "Even people that don't know Einaudi's name will recognize his music through its use in films and adverts. He has never allowed anybody to use any of his music before, but I'm such a fan, so we approached him about adding words and he let us."
