Songfacts®:

  • The Golden Rule states that you should treat others as you would like to be treated. The band's frontman Lukas Nelson told us the inspiration for the song: "It's something my dad has taught me ever since I was a kid. And I just felt like as a record starter, it was a good message to start a record that's generally about wasting everything. I wanted to just start it off with a good note before I kind of delved into the dark parts of being around the music business."

Lukas' father is the acclaimed songwriter and Country music star Willie Nelson.
