Songfacts®:

  • Bill Dance (born October 7, 1940) is a famous bass fisherman who hosted the fishing television series Bill Dance Outdoors on the Outdoor Channel, and Bill Dance Saltwater on the Sportsman Channel. Here, Luke Bryan pays tribute to his fishing hero.

All I ever wanted to be was Bill Dance
    Fishing for a living
    Saturday morning on television

Born and raised in the rural Georgia town of Leesburg, Luke Bryan grew up loving bass fishing on the Muckalee Creek. Watching Bill Dance's TV programs every Saturday and Sunday inspired him to be a great fisherman.
  • This is not the first song where Bryan has sung of his love of fishing.

"Muckalee Creek" finds Bryan recalling his childhood days catching crawfish in the titular body of water.

"Huntin,' Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day" is about Bryan pursuing his two favorite activities around Leesburg's Flint River.
  • Bryan wrote the song with Rhett Akins (Thomas Rhett's dad), Dallas Davidson, and Ben Hayslip. Akins, Davidson and Hayslip are lifelong friends who are known as the Peach Pickers. The three previously collaborated with Bryan on "Huntin,' Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day."
  • The video finds Luke Bryan sitting in the director seat for the first time along with his go-to visual collaborator Michael Monaco. Bryan shot the clip at his farm outside of Nashville. It features his sons Bo and Tate along with cameos by the song's co-writers, Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, and Ben Hayslip.
