Songfacts®:

  • Born and raised in the rural Georgia settlement of Leesburg, Georgia, Luke Bryan is proud of his small town heritage. When the writers Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne and Ross Copperman sent him the demo for "Country Does," he knew from first listen he wanted to record the tune. "It's just about the way I was brought up," Bryan said "It's just about my small-town way of life."
  • The song is right in Bryan's wheelhouse: The country superstar has previously recorded material about his rural roots with such songs as "What Makes You Country" and "Born Here Live Here Die Here."
  • Old folks, kin folks
    Those folks, them folks
Talk about us gonna take it on the chin folks

Bryan previewed the song for fans during a February 4, 2021 livestream. The tongue-twister-ish lyrics made him giggle during what Bryan described as a "highly, highly unrehearsed" performance.
  • Bryan dropped the studio version of the song on February 5, 2021. It is one of six new tracks included on the deluxe version of his 2020 album Born Here, Live Here, Die Here. "With COVID and everything, we had some extra songs that we were able to write and record," Bryan shared. "We all know 2020 was hard on all levels for many. Things were put on hold in the entertainment business, but it did allow more time to make music."
