  • Luke Combs lives with his wife Nicole in a 140-acre property in rural Tennessee, about an hour's drive west from Nashville. Here, he celebrates the "sweet and slow and simple" way of living in the out-of-the-way area. "People are just so proud to be from here," Combs reflected to The Independent. "They're in this place that most have probably never heard of. Like, when my friends would come out from Nashville to write songs here, they'd be like, 'Man, he lives in the middle of nowhere.' And they didn't mean it in a derogatory sense, but it made me think of the idea. It's a little ode to this place, which I think has really changed the way I think about a lot of things."
  • Combs wrote "Middle Of Somewhere" with Nashville songwriters Randy Montana and Jonathan Singleton. Other songs co-penned by the trio include Combs' hits "Beer Never Broke My Heart" and "Cold As You," plus Carly Pearce and Lee Brice's duet "I Hope You're Happy Now."
  • Combs wrote the song with his colleagues out of a feeling of thankfulness for the people who live in his small hometown. They respect his privacy, yet are happy to help the country star and Nicole without asking for anything in return. Nobody suggests they be buddies so they can get free tickets. "They think it's awesome that we are there, and I feel super grateful to be there and to feel like a part of that community," Combs told Apple Music, "to feel like people are proud that we live there, because they are so proud of that place that they feel like, 'This guy would move here, of all places? He could move anywhere.'"
  • Combs recorded "Middle Of Somewhere" for Growin' Up. He wrote the album's 12 songs over a two-year period and worked with Singleton and Chip Matthews as producers.
