Songfacts®:

  • Lyfe Jennings was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison following a violent altercation with an ex-girlfriend in 2008. He penned this song whilst behind bars. The track finds him considering the ramifications of bad behavior when young. "It came together when I had some time, some introspection on my life when I was incarcerated and wrote the song there," he told Artist Direct. Once Jennings got home, he constructed the song and made it available as the first single following his release.
